Ms Elizabeth Vega, Managing Director

With a background in computing sciences and economics, Elizabeth has over 20 years experience in management and IS/IT consulting. She has worked internationally for a range of blue-chip companies including Unilever, Hawker Siddeley, Oracle and The Bond Group, as well as for many national utilities, central and regional government departments.

Elizabeth was a founding member of Informed Solutions in 1992 and, as Managing Director, has successfully overseen a significant expansion of the client-base and services portfolio, achieving year on year growth.

Over the last 5 years, Elizabeth has personally selected and mentored a now well-established Management Team that run the various service groups within the firm, whilst actively promoting a strong commitment to quality and the highest standards of professional service and accountability. She readily admits to being a people person, and is motivated by being able to ‘make a difference' and with the opportunity to build successful, enduring and honest relationships with clients, the company's staff, business partners and associates.

Dr John Alderson, Chairman

John has some 20 years experience in the IT and GI Industries and is Chairman of Informed Solutions, Europe’s leading independent GI consultancy. John is also past Chairman of the Association of Geographical Information, a professional membership organisation representing a broad cross-section of the GI community.

After gaining a 1st class honours degree in Engineering, John completed a PhD in Interactive Computer Graphics. He then worked in the USA for a number of years, designing and developing civil engineering, surveying and mapping software. Following this he worked for Genasys, a leading GIS technology and local government solutions organisation based in Australia. As the company grew internationally, John was promoted to Director of Technology on a global basis. He then transferred to the UK as Managing Director for Genasys in EMEA and transformed the loss making organisation into a profitable, high growth company. John joined Informed Solutions in 1993 and divides his time equally between guiding Informed Solutions strategic direction and undertaking strategic assignments on behalf of Informed Solutions' clients.

Justin Hassall, Director of Programmes

Having achieved an MSc in GIS at Edinburgh University, Justin started his career at the British Geological Survey developing and supporting their digital mapping systems.

He joined Informed Solutions' Project Services Telecoms Group in 1996, and due to his breadth of experience, proven abilities and commitment he was quickly promoted to Lead Consultant.

In his current role as Managing Consultant for the Energy and Utilities Group, Justin is involved in various and diverse assignments and he actively manages the delivery of major, innovative systems integration and spatial solutions projects. Most recently, Justin has developed considerable expertise in mobile and location based services solutions and the number of successful projects delivered by his group attests to the commercial viability and enormous potential that these new technologies and application areas offer.

Justin is an experienced MSP accredited Programme Manager, Prince2 accredited Project Manager and ITIL certified Service Delivery Manager.

Seth Finegan, Director of Consulting Services

After being awarded a BSc in Geography at Bristol University, Seth spent a year as a GIS Consultant at the City of Cologne Government offices. He then completed his MSc at Edinburgh University, graduating with distinction, before joining Informed Solutions.

Seth has over fourteen years experience in the IT sector and has been involved in the delivery of a number of complex specialist systems integration projects. He has extensive experience of undertaking management consulting and strategy assignments, often being subsequently retained to lead the programmes that follow. He has gained an enviable reputation for his ability to bring together both public and private sectors in business change programmes. This is well illustrated by the UK Electricity Consents Programme, a modernising initiative that has brought together the Electricity Companies and the DTI in new ways of joint working, for which he was the Lead Strategy Consultant and is now the Programme Manager.

Seth is MSP and Prince2 accredited and has particular expertise in shared services strategy and the delivery of enterprise GIS and Business Intelligence solutions. He has led the strategy and implementation of the much acclaimed Places Database, an innovative shared service that is delivering integrated geography, statistics and policy knowledge across Government and the public. He leads a team who have received widespread praise for their innovation and professionalism in this programme and others across the public and private sectors.

Seth is an elected Council Member of the UK Association of Geographic Information (AGI) and has a personal interest in furthering the use of Geographic Information in education.
